I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#94867). I received my Bachelors of Art in Sociology from California State University San Marcos and my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California.
I have over 5 years of experience providing mental health treatment in a variety of settings. I am concurrently working in an Emergency Department providing mental health treatment to psychiatric and trauma patients. I’ve worked at a nonprofit agency where I treated children, adolescents and their families through psychotherapy, as well as a substance use residential treatment facility in which I treated homeless veterans. Each position has provided me the experience of working with clients who suffer from a variety of issues which include Substance Use Disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, grief and loss, childhood trauma, caregiver stress, end of life issues, self-harm, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Schizophrenia and other chronic mental health disorders. I was also a military spouse so I understand the military lifestyle and the stressors which accompany it.
I am passionate about helping my clients lead fulfilling lives, and as a Social Worker, I am focused on a comprehensive approach to mental health. I start by meeting each client where they are on their road to self-discovery and empowerment. Together we then begin work to process through past traumas, identify current stressors, and highlight strengths. We move towards identifying healthy, creative and adaptive ways to cope, with the purpose of helping clients experience a sense of relief and recovery. I utilize Solution-Focused techniques, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral interventions, and mindfulness. For younger clients, ages 12 and under, I add therapeutic play to these techniques to help them feel safe in a predictable and supportive environment. I truly look forward to meeting you and walking on this journey together.
