My name is Alix Sanchez I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a doctoral degree in psychology. My doctoral project focused on treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder in women using mindfulness based practices, Reiki, and spiritual therapies. I have worked in a variety of settings including, low cost community clinics, nonprofit, and private practice. I have a special connection to helping others work through anxiety, self-blame, perfectionism, guilt, grief, stress, interpersonal struggles, impostor syndrome, self-doubt, trauma, and relationship and self-esteem issues. I have training in narrative therapy, feminist therapy, mindfulness based interventions, and EMDR.
As a therapist and healer, I take into special consideration the role of family expectations, gender, age, societal and cultural norms and the way in which they impact mental health. I believe that the client is the expert in their own lives and holds the capabilities to impact their well-being. Through each therapeutic journey I use a combination of my therapeutic training, intuition, and empathetic skills to work as a bridge to assist my clients in connecting to their own deeper wisdom. It is through this wisdom that clients can become reintroduced to their preferred identities and ways of living. My goals are to work to destigmatize mental health issues and empower my clients to rediscover their values, meaning, and unique truths.
